What weekday baskets reveal about add-ons

A small Atlanta-area home shop sent eight weeks of order lines with names stripped. Tuesday and Wednesday tickets repeatedly paired a washable cloth with a refill bottle. Saturday tickets were larger in dollars and thinner in lines: one candle, one throw, done.

The live site offered the same 'complete the set' module on every product page, every day. On Tuesday that module sat next to the refill the shopper already intended. On Saturday it sat under a gift-oriented hero and read like a warehouse leftover.

We asked them to rotate the module copy by the store's own quiet pattern, not by a national 'weekend sale' habit. Weekday pages named the refill first. Weekend pages named wrapping, not a second SKU.

Two months later they still had lonely Saturday heroes. That was honest: gift traffic does not want a mop head. The useful change was stopping the weekday prompt from following those shoppers into the weekend.
